This is totally a catch-up post, we have been busy lately. Anyway, apparently our little itty-bitty blog is getting a bunch of hits and has been responsible for some new DJ gigs for us. Totally awesome and thank you. Keep reading and we will make it worth your while.
Anyway, back to business,
If you recall a few months back we did a birthday party at Hugs for DJ Nibc that was a total fucking blast. Nibc is a sick DJ as well as his lovely lady Le Fleur of The Housewives. I posted the flayer below.

Mapei headlined the show and totally had the place jumping. Lucas snapped this amazing picture.

Since the gig I have stayed in contact with DJ Nibc mostly because he is a really cool dude and partly because I want to have my 25th Birthday in Berlin, where he is now living.
I recently spoke with DJ Nibc (Fredrick) about his experience in New York among other things.
Johnsville: Who is DJ Nibc?
DJ Nibc: Fredrik Nyberg in the club - behind the one's and two's.
J: Who has been your favorite DJ to work with?
N: Sweatshop Labor! hehe ;) - honestly most of the great DJs (including u guys) I've worked with so far has been really cool so it's hard to just say one!
Music wise, I'm probably most compatible with one of my homeboys from my clubs the Eye or Bagheera.. Internationally I think me and DJ Mehdi play a lot of similar stuff, a crossover between electro house and techno.
J: Tell me about your music?
N: I Got my first turntables in late 80's but wanted to be an MC, then I started getting into the techno and electronic music scene in mid 90s.. Met a couple of friends in the suburb where I grew up who were doing rave parties and producing techno, one of them taught me to program almost all of the old analogue drum machines and synthesizers. Made some techno trax, but were more focused on dJing since I got gigs all over Scandinavia and Europe. Started really get into producing on another level in early 2000/2001.
J: If you had to pick a favorite track of yours what is it?
N: Hard to choose, but I guess Deliverance is the first REAL track I was ever satisfied with and it had a long long history before it finally was released. So that tune will always be special to me.
J: Tell me about Trunkfunk records?
N: I set up my first real studio in 1999, with one of my friends Johan Inkinen. I came up with our artist name Trunkfunk Brothers, when I listened to an old Too Short record about him rapping from "the Trunk". A year later we had done loads of live gigs around Scandinavia and earned some cash that we invested in pressing up the first Trunkfunk 12" with two tracks that our friends Gunnar Underground and Chuck Cogan made. It didn't happen much after that for a while and then I decided to focus more on my own productions and made Deliverance. Met up with Carl Ryden and formed Tyken and started the label again with loads of new ideas and plans. Today I also have Trunkfunk Songs a co-publishing company set up with Universal Music and all releases are pressed on limited vinyl with exclusive artwork with handpicked top notch guest designers for every release. And of course releases and music from some of the best producers and artists today.
J: What did you think about your birthday in NYC?
N: MASSIVE!!!! The best one so far, no doubt!
Who do you look up to and want to work with?
N: I've been blessed to work with a lot of people I've wanted to work with for a long time, and there are still a bunch of people I want to work with in the future, but right now I'm looking forward to working more on my own stuff for a while.
Who have you met that has made you star struck?
N: Hmm, Don't get star struck that often I guess. but I'm always impressed and inspired when I meet the peeps who are into the same shit and has been doing it longer but also still are down to earth and on the same level.
What was the last artist you bought/downloaded?
N: Not sure, but I think it was Siriusmo's album. His shit rocks!
J: Whats your favorite food?
N: Hard to choose just one. probably Italian (pasta) but I also love sushi, Swedish "husmanskost"(we have to eat it when you come to Sweden!), Lebanese, Vietnamese, tapas, Turkish and junk food unfortunately.
J: What can we expect from you in the future?
N: A bunch of new releases and remixes this year! it's going to be massive! Also a lot of different styles, versatile as always!
Below is a little footage I recorded at the birthday party. Fredrick's friends were nice enough to get him a 4 part birthday cake with each of the 4 pieces spelling Nibc. Needless to say the cake ended up all over the bar and peoples bodies.
